At Miramar Federal Credit Union, keeping the privacy and security of your personal information is important to us. Our Privacy Policy is provided to help you understand how we protect your financial privacy, just as we protect your financial assets. This policy is designed to provide you with the information that you need to make informed choices about the management of your personal financial information.

Information Covered by this Policy

Our Policy applies to all personally identifiable information (personal information) about you that is obtained by Miramar Federal Credit Union in connection with providing you a consumer financial product or service for personal, family or household purposes. Our Policy will continue to cover information we may collect about you during the course of our relationship. Even if you are no longer our member, we will continue to treat privacy of your personal information in the same way as if you were still a member.

We rely on many sources of information to understand and meet your needs. We collect personal information about you from: · Your applications for accounts and services with us.

  • Your transactions with us, our affiliates or with non-affiliated third parties.

  • Other sources in connection with providing you a financial product or service.

The information we collect about you assists us in providing you with superior service. We use the information we collect to:

  • Offer you additional products and services, from us or from others that may be of interest to you.

Information Confidentiality and Security

Information security is one of our highest priorities. The priority is emphasized by our internal employee Confidentiality Policy, this Privacy Policy, and the contracts and agreements we sign with external suppliers and partners. Employees who violate our policies and procedures regarding privacy are subject to disciplinary action. Our partners and suppliers are contractually obligated to uphold our procedures regarding privacy under the terms of our legal contracts with them. We safeguard information by regularly assessing security standards and procedures to protect against unauthorized access to personal information. We train our employees on their role in protecting your personal information and we perform audits to ensure compliance with our Privacy Policy. We limit access to personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products and services to you, service your accounts and administer business. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to protect your personal information.

Information Sharing within the Miramar Federal Credit Union Family

Miramar Federal Credit Union takes an integrated approach to financial services. We want to provide and make recommendations about a variety of financial services to you. For this reason, we may share any of the personal information that we collect about you among companies within the Miramar Federal Credit Union family as permitted by law and to the extent permitted under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Information Sharing outside the Miramar Federal Credit Union Family

We do not disclose any personal information about our members and former members to non-affiliated, third party companies outside the Miramar Federal Credit Union family except as required or permitted by law. For example, we may share information with regulatory authorities and law enforcement officials; provide information to protect against fraud; report account activity to credit bureaus; and give account information to check and statement printers and other service providers who work for us. Miramar Federal Credit Union may share transaction experience and history with non-affiliated, third party companies to the extent permitted under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and this Policy.

Except as set out above we do not, nor will we ever, sell, share, trade or rent names or other information about you to third parties.

How You Can Help

If you ever suspect your personal information has been accessed improperly or the information is inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated, please inform us as soon as possible by following any of the notification options identified below under “Contacting Miramar Federal Credit Union.”

Notices

Miramar Federal Credit Union has developed this Privacy Policy to inform you of the steps we take to protect your information and your rights regarding the use of your information. This policy is made available to all new members at the time of opening an account at Miramar Federal Credit Union. If an account is opened by mail, telephone, or any other situation where a Privacy Policy cannot be delivered immediately, the Privacy Policy will be mailed within three (3) business days. Miramar Federal Credit Union will continue to send our Privacy Policy to you annually, or when changes are made to the policy, by separate mailing or by including it with your account statement. We may send you the Privacy Policy by electronic mail provided you have given us written approval to do so, or you can print a copy at your convenience.

Opting Out

In order to provide you with information and access to competitive products and services, we may share information we have gathered about you with our affiliate, Flightdeck Financial Services, LLC, or any future affiliates. This affiliate is a wholly owned subsidiary of Miramar Federal Credit Union. In compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Miramar Federal Credit Union does not share any information regarding your credit worthiness with our affiliate.

In addition, we provide information we have gathered about you to companies that perform marketing services for financial products and services on our behalf.

You have the right to restrict the sharing of your personal and financial information with our affiliate and all future affiliates and/or the sharing of your personal and financial information with other companies we do business with to provide you with financial products and services.

To exercise your rights and to restrict the sharing of your personal and financial information request the form “Important Privacy Choices for Consumers” by contacting us as detailed below. It will take no more than 30 days to implement your request from the date we receive the completed and signed form. If there is more than one owner of an account, an election of one owner to opt out will be treated as an election by all owners to opt out.
